Important Message from the Superintendent

Last Monday, Warren County Prosecutor, David Fornshell, spoke to grades 7-12 for about 45 minutes on the topic of responsible use of social media and the potential consequences of improper online behavior. Mr. Fornshell’s visit was to raise awareness among students about the potential dangers and legal consequences that can arise from thoughtless or harmful behavior on social media platforms. He emphasized the importance of thinking before posting online, and highlighted the fact that what students post online can have serious implications for their future. He stated that when an inappropriate social media post is brought to his attention, students usually say as an excuse, “I was just kidding or I didn’t know how it would be viewed, etc.” doesn’t work and is NOT accepted by him or the judge. The violator is still prosecuted without any consideration for the typical excuses or blame.

It is our hope the students listened and will refrain from the inappropriate use of social media.  It is also our hope that parents will supplement this presentation by speaking with their sons and daughters to ensure it doesn’t happen at home, school, or anywhere.  Prosecutor Fornshell will be coming to speak to parents on Thursday, October 5th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm during parent teacher conferences at the Junior/Senior High School.   The school has experienced an increase of inappropriate use and ask for parent support in stopping their child(ren) from getting themselves in deep trouble with the school and law enforcement agencies.
