Notice of Board of Education Vacancy & Application Process:
The Wayne Local School District Board of Education seeks applications to fill the unexpired term of Board Member Kelly Morris, who resigned June 23, 2024. Kelly Morris was elected to the Board of Education in November 2023 and sworn in at the Board’s January 8, 2024 meeting.
The Board must name a replacement within 30 days of the resignation. The newly appointed member’s term will expire on December 31, 2025. If the appointed member desires to continue serving, he or she must run for a seat in November of 2025. According to Ohio law, school board members must be at least 18 years old, residents of the district, and registered voters.
If you are interested in serving on the Wayne Local School District Board of Education, please complete the application form available through the provided link: WLS Board Application. (Note: you will be prompted to “copy document” by clicking on “make a copy” before starting your application. After completing the application, click on “File” in the upper left, then click on “email” and “email this file” to submit your application.)
In addition to the application, kindly email a cover letter explaining your interest in becoming a Board Member. Applications will be accepted until 4:00 pm on Friday, July 5, 2024. Please email your completed application and cover letter to chuber@waynelocal.net.
The Board will meet to review the applications during executive session at the regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting on Monday, July 8 at 6 pm. The Board will make a selection prior to the Tuesday, July 23rd deadline.
