RE: IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ON THE SOLAR ECLIPSE - MONDAY, APRIL 8, 2024
Dear Wayne Local Schools Parents and Guardians,
I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to inform you about an important announcement regarding Monday, April 8, 2024. This day has been designated as a professional development day for all staff, and as a result, there will be no students reporting to school. The purpose of this day off is to facilitate the observation of the Solar Eclipse.
The Solar Eclipse is anticipated to occur in the Waynesville, Ohio area between 2:40 PM and 4:00 PM on that day. To ensure the safety and enjoyment of this celestial event, the district will be providing special eclipse-viewing glasses to all students on Friday, April 5. These glasses are crucial for safely observing the eclipse. Classroom teachers will provide instruction to the students about the event and the proper use of the glasses during their distribution on Friday. Additionally, a follow-up discussion on Tuesday, April 9th will further enhance the excitement and learning about the Solar Eclipse.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we marvel at the wonders of the universe with our students and utilize this time safely and beneficially for all involved.
Sincerely,
Sam Ison,
Superintendent of Wayne Local Schools
