Leo Club Induction 2023

The Leo Club (“leadership, experience, opportunity”) is an extension of the Lions Club and is the largest service organization in the world!  Leo Club is a vibrant and dynamic organization that revolves around fostering leadership, experiences in showing empathy, and opportunities for community engagement. Designed for young individuals with a passion for service, Leo Club provides a platform for members to make a positive impact in their local communities and beyond. With an array of innovative projects and initiatives, Leo Club encourages its members to think creatively and find unique solutions to address various social issues. From organizing fundraisers to supporting charitable causes, Leo Club empowers its members to become compassionate leaders who strive to create a better world. Joining Leo Club means embarking on an exciting journey of personal growth, friendship, and making a difference.

On October 8, 2023, the Waynesville LEO Club was officially recognized at an Induction Ceremony. Over 70 people attended this event to witness our 21 members take the oath of membership into the LEO Club. Officer positions were installed as well. The following are members of the Leo Club: Blake Amburgy, Logan Atkins, Abby Baker, Lori Baker, Makayla Bell, Ella Bicardi (Board Member), Ashlyn Callahan (President), Zedie Click, Kohl Johnson (Board Member), Maddie Kolaczkowski, Sophie Kuntz, Gwen Lowry, Kate Matt, Katie McKeehan (Secretary), Elizabeth Nichols (Vice President), Shree Patel (Treasurer), Delaney Snook, Corey St. Pierre, Amanda Tudela, Morgan Wenzler, and Jackie Wright.

Upcoming service projects include building beds for children in Warren County. We will do this project October 22 at Powder Keg Harley Davidson with Sleep in Heavenly Peace of Warren County (https://shpbeds.org/chapter/oh-warren-co/ ).  Leo Club will also raise money for and participate in the Countryside YMCA's Feed Nicaragua Event, November 11th. If you would like to support our cause you can donate to our fund at https://waynesville-lions-club.square.site/?item=41 .  Donations are tax-deductible and will go towards purchasing food items for this event. Also this November the LEO Club is participating in Operation Christmas Child. Shoeboxes will be filled with toys, clothing items, school supplies and then sent to children in need.  And our final project is a tree planting event. The Leos will plant 5 spruce trees on the campus in memory of Dennis Lee Miller, late son of Lions Member, Ellis Miller.

If you have a need that you believe the LEOs can help with please reach out to the advisor at Cathy. Joefreda@gmail.com.    Where there is a need, there is a LEO!

A big thank you to Cathy Joefreda for organizing, mentoring and empowering these wonderful young leaders!
