Iambic Pentameter, Rhythm, and Meter Lesson in 9th Grade ELA

High school teacher Emilee Barnett and her 9th grade students are in a lesson about Iambic Pentameter.  Their use of tennis balls for their Shakespeare unit of study has been a creative one. 

 

For the lesson, the students tossed the balls with iamibic pentameter, rhythm, and meter.  Using Sonnet 18 - William Shakespeare, the students clapped, tossed the balls, and stepped to beats to show meter, stress, and rhythm of the poetry. 

 

The lesson was both energizing and engaging for all students!
