Foot Orthosis Design Challenge in Gateway I Class - 2023

Hands-On Learning 

The 7^th Grade Gateway 1 students worked on a foot orthosis design challenge.  A foot orthosis is a foot brace and the students had to design it based on a criteria list. The goal was to make it for someone with cerebral palsy to prevent them from walking on their tip toes.
 
This was an intro design challenge to help them learn and utilize the engineering design process. The engineering design process will be utilized on all future learning projects throughout the year, but it translates into real world problem solving they might face in their future jobs, or home projects.  The main purpose was for students to be creative and learn the ins and outs of the design process.
