Board Member Spotlight

January is School Board Recognition Month & we continue to celebrate our Board of Education members who dedicate countless hours to the success of our district!  This week, we are featuring Board Member Jamie Gallagher.

Jamie Gallagher, Board Member
Beginning 3rd year as a WLS Board of Education Member

What is the one top reason why you love our district so much?
"I love our community!  My family moved here from the Dayton area when I was young.  My parents wanted a better education and future for me as well as a better community for me to grow up in.  I feel today, as they did then, that Waynesville is one of the best communities to raise a family in.  In my opinion, the people make the community and as we have seen time and again our community succeeds together just as strongly as we endure together.  It goes without saying that there is a reason why people are moving here and why developers continue to want to build in our district.  We have a great school and staff, newer school buildings, and a better opportunity for growth in our school due to the ratio of student to teacher.  I can go on about the school, but even more than that it's just our community itself.  Waynesville has always been full of good hard-working people that have paved the way for the future generations.  My goal is to continue in that tradition and to do my part to help our future generations have whatever they need to be successful while also trying to protect them from any negative external influences."

What is the Best Part About Serving as a BOE Member?"
"For me, the best part is knowing that if the parents have any issues with what is happening at our school, they have someone who will listen and try to help resolve any issues they may have."

Have You or a Family Member Ever Worked/Volunteered in Waynesville Schools in Another Roll?
"No."

What is Something Important You'd Like the Community to Know About Waynesville Schools?
"I would like the public to know that the School Board will continue to find ways to better communicate with them on any important issues regarding their children's education. It is our job to have those conversations and share any information we have to help resolve any issues. Recently, we just completed the process of hiring a new Superintendent and Treasurer and I am proud to have been part of that."
