WHS NHS Inductions 2021-22
History of the National Honor Society
The National Honor Society was founded in 1921 by the National Association of Secondary Principals. Membership in the National Honor Society is one of the highest honors that can be obtained by high school students.
Membership in the National Honor Society is based on Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service. Members are selected from junior and senior classes. To be eligible, a student must have a non-weighted cumulative GPA of 3.6 and submit an application to the Faculty Committee that selects new members.
After induction, members are required to perform community service. New members are required to complete a minimum of fifteen hours of service in their first year. Existing members must complete a minimum of thirty hours of service each year. At least five of these hours each year are required through a school-based group or project.
