Principal's Message

Elementary Principal

Happy May!

It is hard to believe that we only have 20 days of school left-WOW!  We complete OAA Testing this week, and move into the rest of our building assessments-please note DIBELS, DAZE, and Easy CBM Math dates on the May events calendar as well as field trips and field days.  We have posted and published our May newsletter and May Events calendar online and sent home this week. Please refer to them and do not miss any opportunities.

Under downloads and links we have the Parent Information sheet and Student Information sheet regarding student placement for the 2013-14 school year.  This information was also published on Page 2 of our May newsletter.   We welcome your input; please address any concerns with our Guidance Counselor, Charnelle Bees.

“Community Open House” is Wednesday, May 8 from 9:45-11:00 am.  This is the time we welcome parents, grandparents, Pre-Schools, and community members to visit our classrooms.  We also have a one-hour delay that morning, and students should not enter the building until 9:30 am.

“Operation Jumpstart” is being planned for August 1-14 for current 2nd/3rd grade students by invitation only at NO COST to our parents. Look for 2nd grade letters in our final Report Card and 3rd Grade letters in the mail after June 15, when OAA results arrive. Students not passing the Fall and Spring OAAs will be invited to Summer remediation.

Front parking lot:As a reminder only parents/grandparents of Kindergarteners are supposed to pull in the front driveway. Thank you for your help in designing a much better and safer traffic flow.

Please keep in touch with your child’s teacher through assignment books/folders, notes, phone calls, and volunteering. I want to continue to foster this partnership to ensure the continued success of every student. Get involved with our PTO and help out with at least one project. Communication is a vital key and always brings understanding. Please refer to our website and monthly newsletters for updated information (www.wayne-local.com). Your child’s learning experiences at Waynesville Elementary School are greatly impacted by your support, enthusiasm, and involvement. We will continue to focus upon our 4 overarching building principles: Be a Spartan Problem Solver. Be Ready. Be Responsible. Be Respectful. Be Safe.

Please feel free to contact me at any time. We are having another AMAZING school year replete with student successes, high achievement, and parent involvement.
